Inverter Vs Converter. What the difference?
A converter and an inverter are two different devices used in RVs to manage the electrical power supply, but they have opposite functions.
A converter is a device that takes AC power (usually from an external power source, like a campground hookup or generator) and converts it into DC power to charge the RV's batteries and power DC appliances and devices. In other words, a converter changes AC power into DC power.
An inverter is a device that takes DC power from the RV's batteries and converts it into AC power to run AC appliances and devices. In other words, an inverter changes DC power into AC power.
So, while a converter and an inverter both deal with the electrical power supply in an RV, they have opposite functions. A converter changes AC power into DC power, while an inverter changes DC power into AC power.
