Boondocking Checklist: Whats on yours?

Boondocking, or dry camping, can be a fun and exciting way to explore the great outdoors while enjoying the freedom and independence of living off-grid. However, it's important to be prepared before embarking on a boondocking adventure. Here's a checklist of things to consider before heading out on your next RV boondocking trip:

  1. Water: Bring enough drinking water for your entire trip. Consider bringing a portable water filtration system or water storage containers.

  2. Food: Plan out your meals and bring non-perishable foods that don't require refrigeration or cooking. Don't forget snacks!

  3. Power: Bring a backup power source, such as a generator or solar panels. Don't forget to bring any necessary cables or adapters.

  4. Waste: Plan on disposing of your waste properly. Bring a portable toilet or use designated restrooms along your route. Pack out any trash or garbage.

  5. Safety: Bring a first aid kit, flashlight, and emergency supplies such as a radio and extra batteries.

  6. Navigation: Bring a map or GPS system to help you navigate the area. Make sure to plan your route ahead of time and familiarize yourself with the roads and terrain.

  7. Communication: Consider bringing a cell phone booster or Starlink to stay connected in areas with limited cell service.

  8. Comfort: Bring warm clothing and bedding for cool nights. Consider bringing a portable heater or fan depending on the weather conditions. With our Standard or Large Systems you can run your AC during the daytime to keep you and/or your pets cool.

  9. Entertainment: Bring books, games, and other forms of entertainment to keep yourself and your fellow travelers occupied during downtime.

  10. Maintenance: Bring basic tools and spare parts for any necessary repairs. Check your RV's tires, brakes, and other systems before heading out. For solar, our shop phone is linked to your system so we can remote monitor your use and help you troubleshoot if you ever need it.

By following this checklist, you can ensure that you have everything you need for a successful and enjoyable RV boondocking trip. Remember to always respect the environment and leave your campsite better than you found it. Happy trails!
